
Dr. Heykel Kamoun received his Doctorate degree in 2004. A specialist in ophthalmology, he is mainly dedicated to surgery of the anterior segment of the eye, including cataract, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery. He has a particular interest in the management of keratoconus, offering patients the most recent medical and surgical treatments. He actively participates in several research projects related to keratoconus.
He has been Head of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department at the International Ophthalmology Clinic in Tunis, Tunisia, since 2006. He was formerly a resident in ophthalmology at Tunisian hospitals and at the Adolphe Rothschild Foundation in Paris from 2002 to 2005.
Dr. Kamoun was one of the first users of the femtosecond laser in North Africa in 2006, and one of the first to use corneal collagen cross-linking in North Africa in 2007. He was also the first user of intracorneal ring segments in North Africa in 2007. He is a reference speaker at major national and international congresses in the field of keratoconus.
