Maan Alkharashi

Dr. Alkharashi is an Assistant Professor at the department of Ophthalmology, King Saud University
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and an instructor at the department of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical
School in Boston, USA. He is a full time Pediatric Ophthalmologist at King Abdulaziz University
Hospital in Riyadh, and an adjunct consultant at Boston Childrens Hospital and Mass Eye and Ear in
Boston. He is currently the chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus unit at King Saud
University. Dr.Alkharashi is also the head of the undergraduate education committee at the
department of ophthalmology at King Saud University.
Dr. Alkharashi graduated from medical school at King Saud University, and then pursued residency
training in Ophthalmology at McGill University, Montreal, Canada which was concluded by obtaining
the Canadian Board of Ophthalmology and becoming a Fellow of the Royal Colleague of Physicians
and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in the field of Ophthalmology. He later specialized in Pediatric
Ophthalmology and Strabismus by doing a fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital/ MEEI
and Harvard Medical School, during that period, he became an American Board Certified
ophthalmologist. This was followed by spending four years as a full time consultant at Boston
Children’s Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear Institute, Mass General Hospital and Brigham and Women
Hospital in Boston, USA.
Dr.Alkharashi is a member of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Saudi Sociality, member of American
Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Research Committee, member of the advisory
committee of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA), ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals
including the journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Journal of American Association
for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, European Journal of Ophthalmology
