
Dr. Moncef Khairallah is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Monastir in Tunisia. For more than 25 years, he has been leading a team of specialists in the management of uveitis and retinal disease. He regularly participates as an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings. He has also taken part in the organization of several congresses and symposiums in the fields of uveitis and retina in Tunisia and internationally.
Professor Moncef Khairallah is an elected member of the Jules Gonin Club and of the International Uveitis Study Group, a member of the Vision Loss Expert group of the Global Burden disease group, a member of the Club Francophone des spécialistes de la rétine, a member of the Euretina uveitis subcommittee and a member of the International Council of the International Ocular Inflammation Society. He is the current president of the MEACO uveitis society. He is also a member of the editorial board/associate editor for several international ophthalmology journals. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles, co-edited six books on uveitis and ocular infections and written about a hundred book chapters. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Achievement Award (2005) and the Senior Achievement Award (2019) from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the 2016 Gold Medal from the Moroccan Society of Ophthalmology, and the 2018 Gold Medal from the Tunisian Society of Ophthalmology. Professor Moncef Khairallah has been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists in 2023 and 2024, according to the Scientist’s List by Stanford University.
